a little bit about me…

i have a passion for fun and beautiful design. my mac and prismacolor pencils are the mediums i prefer to work with when i create. my mission is to develop uplifting and intriguing art pieces that speak to the heart.

i live in the pacific wonderland of the great northwest. while i love rain, i hate clouds. if only it could rain while the sun was shining! sunshine & rainbows, who could ask for anything more? if i’m not sitting in my art studio designing beautiful things, i’m probably doing mom stuff with my little girl, tilly. you can also find me wandering around in the forest, looking for a random dirt road to explore in my jeep or hanging out with my family. i love art, design, my family, chocolate, my great friends, when other people cook me food, building things, working on my little house, exploring and all things outdoors…except clouds.

my creation process…

inspiration for a new piece always comes to me in a flash. i see the girl, the phrase and the message i want the piece to convey. when inspired to create a piece, i start with the girl. i draw her out in graphite pencil and then fill her in with colored pencils, ink, pastels and any number of art supplies, creating a lovely mixed-medium work of art. once she is created, i scan her and move on to adobe photoshop and illustrator. this is where i put in the background and phrasing. i use a variety of digital images for the background, creating a very rich, colorful, layered look. i also have a giant library of fonts allowing endless creative possibilities. once the background and phrasing is complete, i apply the magic of photoshop to give the piece a truly dimensional, polished and finished look. each image takes 10 – 15 hours to complete.

watch me create a folkgirl…
